This spring PRC will tour the trail system leading to the Bearfort Fire Tower atop Bearfort Mountain in West Milford. This is easily one of the most scenic spots in New Jersey with incredible views of Cedar Pond and the surrounding area, all the way to the New York skyline. Awesome stuff. Let’s go!

Hikers will meet on Stephens Road at the gated entrance. Although PRC hikes move at a leisurely pace, and the route is only about 3 miles, be prepared for some uphill slogging on the way in. All downhill coming out!

To reach the hike starting point, take Route 23 north or south to Union Valley Road. Follow Union Valley about 4 and 1/2 miles east to a left turn on Stephens Road. The parking area is a bout a half mile up the road.

The hike begins at 10AM. Please arrive by 9:45 to ensure a prompt start. Bring lunch and a beverage, since a lunch stop is scheduled. And dress for the weather! Our hikes are rain-or-shine events, within reason. If in doubt, call us for a last minute update. See you there!
