Ogdensburg, New Jersey

The NJ DEP's Division of Fish and Wildlife invites the public to attend the Wildlife Heritage Festival on Sunday, September 30, from 10:00 - 4:00 at the Pequest Trout Hatchery in Warren County. This FREE event is fun for the whole family!

Children between the ages of 8 and 16 will be able to try their hand at trout fishing in the Hatchery Education Pond. Equipment, bait and instruction will be provided. Children under 8 are invited to fish in the Kiddie Trout Tank stocked with trout from the hatchery. New this year will be the American Fly Fishing Schools and their Kids Fly Casting Competition. There will be plenty of other activities for children to enjoy.

The Festival features a Sportsmen's Flea Market with vendors and sport shops selling everything needed to get started in fishing, hunting and outdoor recreation. There will even be fishing guides on hand for anyone interested in booking a great fishing trip. The auditorium will be packed with wildlife artists and taxidermists who will be on hand selling their art and services. Division of Fish and Wildlife biologists and a host of conservation groups will also be available to discuss fish and wildlife conservation programs in addition to educational lectures and demonstrations, which will take place throughout the day.

Other activities include archery and shotgun shooting instruction, a 3-D archery range for mare experienced archers who bring their own equipment and a hunter education field session. Food vendors will be present and visitors are welcome to bring their own lunch to enjoy at one of the many picnic areas on the property.
