The Sparta Historical Society will be having a Christmas House Tour and Visit with Mrs. Claus at the Van Kirk House on Route 517, Main St., Sparta (adjacent to blue Sparta Middle School)* on Saturday, December 8th from 10am to noon, and 2pm to 4pm.

SHS has use of the 1790 Van Kirk house, which is owned by the Sparta Bd of Ed. Four rooms and the hall have been replicated in various periods. There is a large model of a farmhouse scene which takes up an entire room. In the main Parlor or Collections Room there is a 13-star flag, Civil War Lap Desk, Thomas A. Edison's time clock, and more!

*take the school driveway...then make the first left into our parking lot...you will see the white house up beyond the barns.
