Nature and Science in Northern New Jersey
PRC Fall Hike
Newfoundland, New Jersey
10 am til 1:30pm on Sunday, November 2, 2008
Green Pond Road
Green Pond Road
Newfoundland, New Jersey
This hike will tour the spectacular vistas of Copperas Mountain at a time when the foliage should be near peak. Despite its mountaintop location, the hike is mostly level and only 3 miles in length. This is a great outing for anyone, young or old to enjoy, especially kids!
The hike will start at 10 AM and should finish around 1:30 PM. Hikers will meet at a gravel parking lot on Green Pond Road. Please arrive early to ensure a prompt start. The lot is on the right hand (north) side of Green Pond Road, just a quarter mile from Rt. 23. To reach it from the south, follow Rt. 23 north to La Rue Road, u-turn at La Rue onto Rt. 23 south, then take the first right onto Green Pond Road.
Bring a drink and lunch since there is a stellar spot for a picnic stop. Cameras and binoculars are good options. Please wear sturdy shoes or boots.
This is a rain-or-shine event (within reason), so be prepared. Right now the forecast is sunny, in the high 50s, with light winds. Perfect!!!
