CELEBRATE ISRAEL & FANNY CRANE'S BIRTHDAY
Montclair, New Jersey
1-4pm on Sunday, March 22, 2009
The Israel Crane House
110 Orange Rd
Montclair, New Jersey
Come celebrate Israel and Fanny Cranes' birthdays by visiting the Israel Crane House on Sunday, March 22, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. In honor of Israel's birthday in March 1774, and Fanny's birthday in March 1773, admission will be free that day and we will be serving Glazed Orange Cake from our Fanny Pierson Crane Cookbook to our guests.
Israel Crane was a successful merchant who constructed one of New Jersey's earliest turnpikes. Today's Bloomfield Avenue is part of this turnpike.
The Crane House was home to three generations of the Crane family, descended from one of Montclair's founders. It dates from 1796 and was remodeled circa 1840 with Greek-Revival details. Now restored, it displays a collection of period furnishings.
The Crane House Museum is located at 110 Orange Road, Montclair. For more information, call (973) 744-1796, or visit www.montclairhistorical.org.
