River Trail Float and Clean-up
Pompton Lakes, New Jersey
9;30 AM on Saturday, July 11, 2009
Joe Grill Field
Willow Ave
Pompton Lakes, New Jersey
On this river trip we will be rounding up trash along our boating trail. Dress for the mess! We will be using our big PRC canoe as a “garbage scow” with volunteers contributing whatever they can collect from the river. A fun and rewarding day! Keep in mind that this is a work session. Experienced paddlers only, please! Although this is not a whitewater trail we must point out that these are rivers, not lakes. As our trail guide notes: “Moving water is not the place to develop basic paddling skills.” Participants should consider their skill level before joining us. Safety first!
lease arrive by 9:30 to ensure a prompt start. No rain date. We will cancel if the weather is truly foul.
What to bring:
You must have your own canoe or kayak. Coastguard-approved lifejackets or “PFDs” are required, and must be worn by all participants. Bring lunch and a drink. Bug repellent is a good idea.
