409 Bloomfield Ave.
Montclair, New Jersey
If you like visiting historical attractions and getting exercise at the same time, you’ll want to sign up for this event in August: a bike tour of Montclair’s historical houses and sites. Historian Mike Farrelly will show us some of Montclair's oldest homes; and talk about who built them, who lived there, and what they did. The ride will take approximately 2 hours, and is geared for ages 12 and up.
The free event, scheduled for Sunday August 16, is sponsored by the Montclair Historical Society (MHS), Diamond Cycle, and DestinationMontclair, a new program of the Montclair Arts Council (MAC) designed to promote Montclair as one of the state’s premiere cultural destinations, and funded by the New Jersey Department of Tourism
The 4 mile bike ride on August 16 starts at Diamond Cycle, 409 Bloomfield Ave., and ends at the Clark House, an 1894 Queen Anne-style house at 108 Orange Road. The event begins at 11 a.m. Volunteers will be on-hand at some locations along the routes to answer questions.
