Pequannock River Coalition Winter Hike – Saturday 02/16



One of our most popular outings, this year our winter hike will tour the area north of Copperas Mountain in Rockaway. Hopefully we will have just the right amount of snow on the ground to assist with tracking,



But snow or not, this is a great opportunity to see how our woodlands and wildlife endure the rigors of Jack Frost and also see the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. With some moderate exercise and education, this 4-mile winter hike is a perpetual crowd pleaser.



Hikers will meet at a gravel parking lot on Green Pond Road. The lot is on the right hand (north) side of Green Pond Road, just a quarter mile from Rt. 23. To reach it from the south, follow Rt. 23 north to La Rue Road, u-turn at La Rue onto Rt. 23 south, then take the first right onto Green Pond Road.



Please wear appropriate clothing and bring a snack and drink for our lunch stop. The hike starts promptly at 10AM. We urge you to arrive early—no waiting for slackers! With a break for lunch we should wrap up at around 2PM.
