I bought a pair of bookends cast by Snead & Co. of Jersey City, then did a little online research. Snead and Co. was the foundry that did the shelving for the Library of Congress, but switched to casting propellers and marine engine parts as a result of the war (I am not sure *which* war, WWI or WWII) and moved out of Jersey CIty. I don't know if they are still in business.
