Jazzy Jan Loe, a musical legend in the greater New York area, lost everything in a catastrophic house fire in mid-March 2018. Her entire house, its contents, her beloved cats, her musical instruments, her recording equipment, her car, her art & art supplies, her clothes... ash. Integral to the Montclair music scene for decades, most especially to Trumpets Jazz Club, Jan hails from Texas. A singer/songwriter who performs in the style of Michael Hedges and Leo Kotke, Jan is an accomplished guitarist, pianist & bassist. She has composed jazz instrumentals which aired on television and composed an avant-garde oratorio performed at Montclair's Outpost in the Burbs. Ms. Loe has performed at the Smithsonian and many Jazz and Folk venues across the country. She appeared as Henny Penny in the NY premiere of the Children's Opera "Chicken Little" to glowing reviews. Jazzy Jan is currently a voice, piano and guitar instructor in Northern New Jersey and hosts "Open Mic with Jazzy Jan at Jiggs' Music Corner" every Tuesday and Thursday.
