Experience the activities of the officers taking rest and recreation at The Hermitage with female visitors. James McHenry, Washington’s aide-de-camp wrote: … "with them we talked and walked and laughed and danced and gallanted away the leisure hours of four days and four nights". Musicians and dancers invite you to learn the historic songs and steps of the era. The historic grounds are alive with reenactors from the Continental and British armies with battle drills and firings. Explore camp life and the various aspects of military life with soldiers bivouacked on the lawns. Experience every-day civilian life from spinning and weaving to cooking, crafts and games. Have encounters with historic figures. Members of 2nd New Jersey Regiment reenact the General Court-Martial of General Charles Lee at the Paramus Church. Tour of The Hermitage included.
