– Learn the basics of cross country skiing on flat and sloping terrain from our personable and patient instructors; then develop your technique and hone your new skills on our field. Three identical 1.5- hour sessions are being offered on Saturdays and Sundays in January. Sessions run at 9am, 11 am, and 2 pm on January 4,5,11,12,18, and 19. In case of “no snow” conditions classes will still meet at 11am only on Saturdays and 2pm only on Sundays.
The cost of the ski clinic is $20 per person, and $15 for members of the New Jersey Audubon Society and includes equipment rental. If you have your own equipment, then the cost is $10 for non-members and $5 for members. The cost of instruction if there is no snow is $12 for non-members and $8 for members. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. When registering, please include shoe size and alternate time/date choices. The Weis Ecology Center is one of nine staffed centers operated by the New Jersey Audubon Society, a private, not-for-profit, member supported organization. The Center’s goal is to enhance people’s awareness of, and appreciation for, their environment. Specializing in full-day and residential environmental education programs for school, scout and other youth and adult groups, Weis is also recognized for its popular public programs for adults, kids and families. The Weis Visitors Center, open during business hours, houses their turtle, snakes, seasonal exhibits and an NJAS Nature Store featuring field guides, bird feeders and accessories, kid stuff, regional trail maps and more.
