Program will cover why photographs deteriorate; recommend steps necessary to preserve family photo collections, including both older types of photographs and digital images; and provide useful tips for photo conservation. Attendees are encouraged to bring samples from their own collections for discussion. Speaker: Gary Saretzky, Monmouth County Archivist and Adjunct Professor at Mercer County Community College, where teaches History of Photography; and Coordinator for Internship Programs at the Rutgers University History Department. He is a member of the Photo Materials Groups of the American Institute for Conservation and has provided consultative services, lectured, and written on the topic of photographic conservation.
