Although presently closed to the public, some free family programs are now offered at the NJ DEP Division of Fish & Wildlife's Hackettstown Natural Resource Education Center, located on the grounds of the Hackettstown State Fish Hatchery. Programs are open by registration only.

Enter the fascinating world of the butterflies and moths of New Jersey. Tony McBride, an amateur lepidopterist, presents a view into the world

of these winged insects. Learn about a selection of New Jersey's fauna as well as their life cycles and habits, and the need for habitat conservation. The presentation will showcase some common New Jersey butterfly and moth species, and some of the threatened and endangered species. Part of Tony's collection of butterflies and moths will be on display as well. Information on butterfly gardening will be provided.

The program will be offered rain or shine. It will ONLY be canceled due to 4" or more of snow. Registration is required. For information and directions, call (908) 637-4125 or send an email to ejackson@dep.state.nj.us
