On Sunday July 11th, between the hours of 1 and 4pm, members of Co. E 15th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry {one of the oldest and most authentic reenactment units in New Jersey} will be onsite at the Neldon-Roberts Stonehouse at 501 Route 206 - within a 1/2 mile below the Montague-Milford Bridge. Based in West Caldwell, this unit
is a non-profit organization consisting of enthusiasts dedicated to expanding their knowledge of the period, to educate the public, and to actively work to preserve the memory of this turbulent time and of the men who fought and died to preserve the Union. Their primary goal is to accurately portray the soldiers of Company E, 15th New Jersey Regiment, Volunteer Infantry. They also aim to aid in preservation and to educate the public on New Jersey's Civil War Soldiers. Members have been extras in movies such as "Gods and Generals", "Gettysburg" and "Glory" and in Civil War documentaries.
Also exhibiting the Herb Garden, which they help to maintain, will be the Minisink Garden Club.
The Foster-Armstrong House, a c. 1790 National Register site at 320 River Road, will be open for tours. No admissions charged, but donations
welcomed.
