On Sat. Dec. 31, Music At The Mission presents it's 3rd Annual New Years Eve Celebration with with singer/songwriter Erin McKeown.



27-year-old Erin McKeown is a rare find.

While the category of singer/songwriter continues to wander down the path of certain homogeneity and female artists become, by and large, either Britney/Christina knock-offs or dubiously tortured souls, Erin offers something that threatens to move the goalposts. Her latest recording, 2003's grand, is one genre-busting romp of an album. From fractured blues to New Orleans horns, cool French rock to lovely piano waltzes, multi-instrumentalist McKeown does it all in her own inimitable style.



Ms.McKeown's songs have been heard in the feature film "Uptown Girls", on FX's "nip/tuck", MTV's "The Real World", Showtime's "The Ranch", and "Dawson's Creek". Her festival appearances include: Oxegen2004 (IR), Bonnaroo2004 (TN), Glastonbury2003 (UK), Crossing Border2003 (NL), and Bumbershoot2001 (WA)





After two years of touring "grand", you might expect McKeown would want to take a break. Instead she spent the summer of 2004 hard at work writing for her next album. Not content to just sit at home and work with her trusty four-track, Erin also collaborated on new material with friends Chris Keup (Jason Mraz, Johnathan Rice), Gary Louris (The Jayhawks), Tim Bradshaw (David Gray), and Ani DiFranco. In December, McKeown headed to New Orleans' Piety Street Studio to record with Seattle-based producer Tucker Martine (Modest Mouse, Jim White, Bill Frisell, Laura Veirs).
