International Astronomy Day. United Astronomy Clubs of New Jersey, Inc. hosts its annual Astronomy Day, a free event with presentations, lectures, slide shows, solar observations and stargazing. Activities are 1-5pm a the Northeast Branch of the Warren County Library, 63 Route 46, Hackettstown (Independence Twp.), for presentations, displays of astronomical images, antique astronomy items, and, weather permitting, solar telescopes to safely view the surface of the sun. The events continues at 8pm at the UACNJ Observatory, Jenny Jump State Forest, off Far View Road, Hope. Lonny Buinis of Raritan Valley Community College will lecture on "Life on Europa," and the observatory's 16-inch telescope and other instruments will be open for stargazing until 11pm, weather permitting.
