Saturday, July 1: Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration. Commemorate the 230th Anniversary of our Independence at the third annual 4th of July Celebration at Millbrook Village. Bring a picnic lunch and spend a leisurely and enjoyable day at the village. Volunteers in period costumes will provide house tours and demonstrations of late nineteenth century rural life and skills. What did the weaver, spinner, wheelwright, miller, cobbler, blacksmith, storekeeper, woodworker, sawyer, carver, farmer, housewife, schoolteacher and student do on the 4th of July? Stop by and see for yourself. At 1pm, join the townsfolk in a traditional parade down Main Street to the green at the general store, where the mayor will deliver an address. Enter the watermelon eating contest for children and adults after the parade for some refreshing fun. There will be children's activities and games throughout the day. Make a hat and a flag, wear your patriotic clothes and have fun as it was a century ago. Step back to a quieter time. All activities are family oriented and free of charge. 10am-3pm; Millbrook Village, Part of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Old Mine Road and County Route 602N., Hardwick Township.
