The Second Annual Pompton Day Festival will be held on Sunday Sept. 3, the rain date is Monday Sept. 4. Festivities begin early in the morning with the Annual 5K Run and will culminate at dusk with a grand Fireworks display. The Elks Lodge will host activities for the kids, including a Fishing Derby and there will be sporting events such as tennis, biking, kayaking, and a Scenic River Walk. The day will also include live entertainment, Trolley Rides, a Petting Zoo, vendors of all types and food concessions. A Duck Race Raffle is also held with the proceeds going to the Pompton Lakes Teen Center. The highlight of the day is the �Plywood Regatta� race. Teams will construct a fine sailing vessel from the provided materials consisting of one sheet of plywood, fasteners and duct tape. They will then race to the finish for the Mayor�s Cup.
